Manitou Springs dates from the 1800s and is one of the oldest areas in
the state of Colorado and one of the nation's largest National Historic
Districts. Developed in the late 1800s as a mountain spa, it is known
for its bubbling mineral springs and its rich, historic architecture
and heritage. Manitou Springs has an elevation of 6,200 to 7,500
feet and has a similar climate to that of Colorado Springs.
