COMMUNITY INFORMATION > PET LICENSING

Licensing & Vaccinations
All dogs in El Paso County must be licensed by the time they are 4 months old. An annual license can be obtained, with proof of a current rabies vaccination, from the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

Regulations
Leash law requires all dogs to be on a leash or under voice control at all times when off the owner's property. Horses may be kept inside the city limits in some areas depending on zoning and restrictive covenants. Certain animals are prohibited in some areas. Other unusual animals require a permit issued by the Humane Society. For more information, call (719) 473-1741.

Veterinarians
There are over 100 veterinarians in the area and 40 clinics from which to choose. The Colorado Springs Area Veterinary Society maintains information and fields inquiries about area veterinarians and emergency animal services. For more information, call (719) 475-1314.
