Colorado
Springs Airport
The Colorado Springs Airport is a modern facility that has seen everything from
the Space Shuttle to the British Airways Concorde. It offers three runways (one
is over two miles long) and 12 gates, with more planned. With a full range of
airport resources and plentiful ground transportation services, the airport is
less than 30 minutes from anywhere in the city. Colorado Springs is home to nine
airlines with over 100 daily flights, with direct and nonstop service to many
major U.S. cities and easy connections to any airport in the world.
Denver
International Airport
Built to replace the outdated Stapleton International Airport, Denver International
Airport occupies 34,000 square feet. DIA rests between five 12,000 foot runways
configured as a pin-wheel. Landing patterns can be turned around in a matter
of minutes as wind and weather dictate. Building from scratch gave DIA inherent
advantages in design, and safety was thus enhanced. With three outlying concourses,
access to the gates is provided by an underground rail system (AGTS). All the
concourses are serviced by the train. From Project Management to Computer Aided
Design, DIA was possibly the largest municipal project designed, built and
operated using computers.
